Located on the edge of a Dual World Heritage site – ‘Tongariro National Park’, is Plateau Lodge & Shuttles. We offer accommodation and the only Tongariro campsites right in the village. With a backdrop of the volcanoes, our lodge covers a wide range of family friendly apartments, ensuite rooms and lodge rooms. On site is a communal lounge & kitchen, spa pool, guest laundry, Wifi, lunch packs & breakfast.

The highlight to visiting National Park is the number one hike In New Zealand “Tongariro Alpine Crossing” a day walk over active volcanoes. Our shuttle service departs at 6am-7am-8am-9am-10am and returning all afternoon 1.30 to 5.30pm for smaller hikes over the alpine forest try Whakapapa Village. Our lodge is walking distance to all cafes/ bars mini mart and intercity bus & train station.

All rooms have linen and towels supplied, depending on the room type - they may also have toiletries and ensuites. There are also shuttles available to travel around National Park.

    There is buses going to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing all year round.

    Reception hours are 7.30am to 8.00pm, if you are arriving late just let us know.

Urgent Coronavirus Update

Anyone that has arrived into New Zealand from Monday 16th March 1am is required to self-isolate for 14 days.  If you do not do this you will be deported out of New Zealand if you are caught. If you need advice you can call the health line  0800 358 5453 or +64 9 358 5453  Do not enter a hostel, a hospital or a doctors clinic instead call the health line if you think you have the coronavirus.  If you need somewhere to self-isolate we might be able to help you so send an email to [email protected]co.nz.  Many hostels are now checking your passports to see when you have entered the country and will report you to the police if you are not following the New Zealand requirements.
