Jailhouse Accommodation will provide you with the most memorable accommodation
of your travels! We have been looking after guests since 2006 and are a must-stay
on the South Island travel circuit. Imagine sleeping in a historic Jail cell, although rest
assured it has been tastefully renovated and is much warmer and friendlier than it’s
years as the Addington Prison from 1876 to 1999. You can have your mugshot
taken and explore the historic solitary confinement cell. Now the Jailhouse building
has a new use and the local Addington area is a hive of activity and boasts cool
bars, theatre, sports and entertainment venues. You will still be close to the CBD to
explore the Gardens, Museums, Quake City, Art Centre and other Christchurch
Attractions. It is also walkable along Hagley Park to Christchurch Hospital. We have
a room for everyone as our cells include dorms, singles, twin bunks, doubles and a
family room with shared bathrooms, kitchen, laundry facilities, free WiFi, free
parking, TV areas and more.
