Hostel Amenities

Alongside the well equipped facilities and ensuites with certain rooms - the Lakefront Lodge Backpackers offers you a number of amenities.

Kitchen - Our shared kitchen offers cooking ranges, microwave, fridge, chairs and tables, instant hot water and toasters. It is also fully equipped with pots, pans, crockery and cutlery.
Laundry - A communal laundry has two coin operated washing machines ($4 per load) both of which dispense washing liquid free of charge and a coin operated dryer ($4 per load).
Bathrooms - Shared bathroom facilities consists of separate men's and women's areas featuring toilets, showers and wash basins. There's a wheelchair-accessible toilet and shower as well.
Lounge & Dining Room - Facing the lake, the Lake Tekapo Backpackers Lodge features a huge common room with lovely, natural wooden dining tables and a wood-burner fire – super cosy on cold nights!
BBQ Facilities & Picnic Area - Lodge guests have free use of our BBQs and picnic area. Situated in a courtyard facing the lake, with great views of the lake and mountains, this is a great place to cook and eat outside in the fresh air.

What time is check in?

Check in is from 12pm if you come by bus, or 2pm if you come by car.
How do I check in after hours?

If you arrive after 8pm, we will leave out an envelope outside reception with your name on it. It will have your key and a map inside.
What time are reception hours?

Can I check in late? Reception hours are 8:30am until 8pm. You can still check in after this.
What time is check out?

Can I have a late checkout? Check out is strictly 10am. We do have luggage storage at reception.
Do you offer female-only dorms?

No. We only have mixed dorms.
What payment methods are accepted?

Cash or card.
How long does it take to get into town?

It is about a 15 minute walk along the lake shore.
Can I drink alcohol in the hostel?

Yes, just not in the rooms.
Do you have free WiFi?

No, we have WiFi on a paid network. Unfortunately at this stage we are unable to offer free WiFi as we do not have the capacity. The Backpacker Group bookings you will get 500mb for free.
How can I get to the lake?

The lake is about 100m in front of the lodge.
Is bedding supplied?

Yes, all linen is provided.
Are there any shops or places to eat nearby?

Yes, the Tekapo Village is about a 15 minute walk.
